Captain Jordan Smith is the local hero who pulled something completely unexpected out of his fishing net.
“I saw this little head swimming around,” he told Huffington Post. “She was swimming toward me, like, ‘Oh, human, save me!’”
Smith noticed something falling off the Marler Bridge when he was was out on the harbor in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. “At first I thought it was like a trash bag, with some trash in it,” he said.
But it wasn’t, because the thing that fell of the bridge started moving. Smith was shocked when he saw those frightened orange eyes.
“She latched ahold of me and didn’t want to let go,” he said. “she was just staring at me the whole time.”
Smith named the cat ‘Miracle’, and he believes that someone must have thrown the cat off the bridge on purpose.
Miracle is recovering at the vet’s and Smith is planning on adopting her when she’s fully recovered.
